Privacy Policy — Internet Outage Tracker

This Privacy Policy explains how Internet Outage Tracker (package name com.mstok.outagewatch) handles information when you use the Android application.

Overview

Internet Outage Tracker is a network-diagnostic utility. It does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, microphone, or camera. The developer does not operate a server that receives your diagnostic history.

Information processed by the app

When you run a network check, the app processes technical network information needed to explain whether a problem is caused by the current connection or the wider internet. This may include:

• the active connection type, such as Wi-Fi, mobile data, Ethernet, or VPN;
• Android network validation and captive-portal status;
• the local gateway address and DNS server addresses reported by Android;
• DNS, route, HTTPS reachability, response status, and measured latency;
• the date and time of the check; and
• a randomly generated identifier used only to distinguish saved reports on the device.

This information is used only to produce the diagnostic result and local history.

Local storage and retention

The app stores up to 50 recent diagnostic reports locally on your device. Diagnostic history is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. You can delete all saved reports at any time with the Clear action in History. The data is also removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.

The app also stores small local values used to limit how often interstitial advertisements are shown, such as the number of completed checks and the last display time.

Network requests

To test connectivity, the app may connect to Cloudflare's public route at 1.1.1.1:443, resolve one.one.one.one, and request connectivity-check endpoints operated by Google and Cloudflare. These providers may receive standard internet request information, such as your IP address, request headers, and request time, under their own privacy policies. The app does not include your locally saved diagnostic history in these requests.

Advertising and consent

The app uses Google Mobile Ads to display an inline banner and occasional interstitial advertisements. It also uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising consent where required. Depending on your consent choices, device settings, and region, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as IP address, device or advertising identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostic data for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes.

Android permissions

The app requests Internet, network-state, and Wi-Fi-state access so it can perform diagnostics and load consent or advertising services. It does not request Android location permission.

Data sharing

The developer does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only as technically necessary with the connectivity endpoints and Google advertising or consent services described above. A report is shared with another app only when you deliberately use Android's Share action.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to keep diagnostic history local and limit processing to the app's stated functions. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app, its service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are published.
